Fish Creek is one of the major hubs of Door County activity. So much of what makes Door County such a unique experience can be found in this historic community. In and around Fish Creek are a myriad of opportunities to experience the arts, nature and sports activities and shopping and dining.
In addition to the many art galleries and studios in the area, Fish Creek is home to the famous Peninsula Players Theater, Peninsula Music Festival, Peninsula Art School, Door Community Auditorium and the American Folklore Theater.
Located just a quarter-mile from the Hilltop Inn is the entrance to Peninsula State Park. This park is one of the largest state parks in the entire midwest. Miles of hiking and biking trails can be found in the park in addition to a great 18 hole golf course with wonderful views of the bay. A large sand beach, canoeing, cross country skiing and sledding in the winter, can all be experienced within Peninsula Park’s 3,700 acres. During the summer and fall, guided tours are conducted of the Eagle Bluff Lighthouse located within the park. A sand beach is located one-half mile from the Hilltop Inn as well.
The many varied stores in Fish Creek are truly a shopper’s delight. The stores are located both downtown in the heart of Fish Creek and “kitty-corner” from the Hilltop Inn at the Top of the Hill shops. When it’s time to eat, many wonderful restaurants, offering everything from a traditional Door County fish boil to romantic candlelight dinners can be found in and around Fish Creek. Or stay at The Hilltop Inn and make your own meal in your fully equipped kitchen.
Fish Creek has taken care to preserve its history. Guided walking tours of more than 20 historic buildings are conducted from late June through September. Self guided maps are also available at the visitors center.
Whether you are visiting for the first time or are making a return visit, the Hilltop Inn in Fish Creek is everything you could want in your Door County vacation.
