October in Door County is bursting with activities. Fall colors, harvest time, and the biggest weekend festivals of the year! With so much to do and see around Door County, you will want to stay somewhere close to all of the action. October is the month when the trees burst with spectacular color as this is the peak of our Fall Foliage season. Mother Nature puts on a magnificent show all throughout the county. Driving through one of our parks or along our back roads will leave you speechless as you marvel at the sheer beauty of our fall colors. A fall Door County leaf peeping tour should be at the top of everyone’s bucket list. In fact Door County was voted number one in the country by the readers of USA Today as the Best Destination For Fall Foliage!
Fall’s stunning colors are not the only thing on display throughout the County in October! Door County is filled with apple orchards and farm stands. If you are “do it yourself” kind of person, many orchards allow you to pick your own apples. You don’t have to pick your own , however, you can pick up bags of apples already picked for you! You can tour the counties markets sampling apple and pumpkin pies, apple ciders, fudge, candies…anything you can think of made with apple or pumpkin! You can pick up beautiful pumpkins and gourds to decorate your own home with. Take hayrides, trolley tours, tour corn mazes anything that says “fall” to you, Door County delivers in abundance. Do you like to sample “adult” beverages while on vacation? Door County has got you covered there too. Door county is home to eight wineries, four breweries, two distilleries, and one hard cider maker. Along with traditional offerings many offer things like pumpkin beer and wines along with apple wines and brandies.

Autumn Lighthouse Festival
This is an abbreviated version of the larger spring Door County Lighthouse Festival.
Reacting to the popularity of the Lighthouse Festival each June, the Door County Maritime Museum offers a couple of its most popular tours Columbus Day weekend. Take this opportunity to see lighthouses from land or boat and enjoy the vibrant fall colors as well.
Festival weekends include land-based, boat, and adventure tours that together reach all eleven of the treasured lighthouses of Door County. Many of the tour excursions are unique to the Lighthouse Festival weekends, and provide visitors exclusive access to several lighthouses not typically open to the public, including Chambers Island Lighthouse, Plum Island Range Lights, and the Sherwood Point Lighthouse. Art in Ephraim
October 12-13 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
As the leaves start to turn for the fall, come to Ephraim to experience the eclectic artisan community. Visitors can spend the weekend perusing the various galleries throughout the village. The galleries will welcome visitors to view their stunning works of art, from paintings, pottery, jewelry, furniture, or printmaking and beyond. The 46th Annual Townline Art Fair at Fine Line Designs Gallery will host professional artists from around the Midwest at their event in North Ephraim. Seaquist Orchards Apple Festival

Pumpkin Patch Festival
Fun-filled weekend! Free admission. Live music, carnival rides, arts & crafts vendors, face painting, pumpkin & scarecrow displays, magician, kids games & activities, Chinese raffle, food and fun!
NEW! Shuttle and off-site parking provided by Horseshoe Bay Farms on Saturday, October 12 from 10am-6pm. Park at Murphy Park, tour the farm, and get a ride to and from Pumpkin Patch! Then join us on the Kress Pavilion lawn for an inflatable obstacle course, photo backdrop, and free games sponsored by the EHBA. Head across the street to Book Nook Gardens (little blue building) for more kids activities including rock painting, pumpkin carving demonstrations, ice cream and more! The tradition lives on at Sister Bay’s 74th annual Fall Festival, Friday, October 18-20, 2019. Join us for 3 days of family fun, kids games, great music, local food and our huge Arts & Crafts Fair. The Lion’s Club Classic Car Show and Fish Boil are yearly favorites along with Saturday’s Pancake Breakfast followed by our annual Fall Fest Parade at 11am. Jack O’ Lantern Days
This festival puts the “eek!” in Fish Creek! A true, hometown Halloween festival, Jack O’ Lantern Days will entertain little witches and goblins of all ages. Highlights include a festive costume contest, town hall games, town-wide trick-or-treating, a costume parade, mask making and so much more!
