October in Door County is bursting with activities. Fall colors, harvest time, and the biggest weekend festivals of the year! With so much to do and see around Door County, you will want to stay somewhere close to all of the action. The Hilltop Inn is located in Fish Creek just minutes from all of the other Door County towns and villages. The Hilltop Inn is your home away from home! Our spacious resort condos have all the amenities of home including a kitchen for the nights you don’t feel like dining out. Another bonus is that the Hilltop Inn’s resort condos are just steps away from all that Fish Creek has to offer including shops, restaurants, the Door County Auditorium, Peninsula Art School and Peninsula Park.

Some of the biggest festivals of the year are held in the month of October. The Autumn Lighthouse Festival, Seaquist Orchard’s Apple Festival, Art in Ephraim, Jack O Lantern Days in Fish Creek, Pumpkin Patch Festival in Egg Harbor (my personal favorite), and the granddaddy of ALL Door County festivals, Fall Fest in Sister Bay. October is the month when the trees burst with spectacular color as this is the peak of our Fall Foliage season. Mother Nature puts on a magnificent show all throughout the county. Driving through one of our parks or along our back roads will leave you speechless as you marvel at the sheer beauty of our fall colors. A fall Door County leaf peeping tour should be at the top of everyone’s bucket list. In fact Door County was voted number one in the country by the readers of USA Today as the Best Destination For Fall Foliage!

Fall’s stunning colors are not the only thing on display throughout the County in October! Door County is filled with apple orchards and farm stands. If you are “do it yourself” kind of person, many orchards allow you to pick your own apples. You don’t have to pick your own , however, you can pick up bags of apples already picked for you! You can tour the counties markets sampling apple and pumpkin pies, apple ciders, fudge, candies…anything you can think of made with apple or pumpkin! You can pick up beautiful pumpkins and gourds to decorate your own home with. Take hayrides, trolley tours, tour corn mazes anything that says “fall” to you, Door County delivers in abundance. Do you like to sample “adult” beverages while on vacation? Door County has got you covered there too. Door county is home to eight wineries, four breweries, two distilleries, and one hard cider maker. Along with traditional offerings many offer things like pumpkin beer and wines along with apple wines and brandies.

Grab your partner and spend an October weekend (or week) enjoying special meals at one of our award winning restaurants or sharing a romantic fall hike. Grab your family for a weekend filled with apple picking, corn mazes, hay rides, and fall festival fun! Grab a load of your friends and spend time touring the wineries, tasting beer and spirits, nabbing some bargains at one of the many shops, catching a fall production at one of our theaters. No matter who you come with, the Hilltop Inn’s resort condos will be here for you at the end of the day to relax, kick back and review the days events.  Book your fall Door County Vacation now!
